Course Description
This course starts with a short historical background discussing ceramic systems from the 1960s to the present – obsolete materials, but each contributed certain properties to modern day ceramics. Next, we’ll cover the properties of ceramics. How are these different from metal and how are these different from each other? Can they be substituted for metal? The final part of the lecture covers the modern day materials: lithium disilicates, aluminum oxides, and the zirconium’s; CAD CAM, wax printing, and digital impressions.

Dr. James Soltys
D.D.S., Cert. Prostho., M.S., F.R.C.D. (C)
Dr. Soltys is a 1981 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He subsequently completed a 1-yr GPR at Eastman Dental Center. After 10 years of private practice he went back to the Eastman Dental Center to receive his Certificate in Prosthodontics. He has a private practice is Victor, NY. Dr. Soltys is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics; a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the International Team for Implantology and the American College of Dentists. He teaches one day a week at the Eastman Dental Center and has lectured extensively at the local national and international level.
