Course Description
Proper occlusion is a key factor to longevity of implants, teeth and their restorations. Improper occlusion can cause significant problems with restoration integrity as well as implant maintenance. This presentation will focus on differences between teeth and implants and on the effects of improper occlusal design on restoration longevity. Methods to create proper occlusion will be discussed and practical methods to maintain occlusion will be provided. The second part of the course will review implant troubleshooting (esthetic problems, angled implants, soft tissue problems, loose prostheses, fractures or deformed parts, unusual complications, etc.) that have been encountered over the past 20 years. This portion of the presentation will also use hands on interactive demonstration and participation to teach the participants to remove fractured screws, loose screws, re-tap implants and remove loose prostheses (cemented).
