Course Description

How to prolong your dental career with a more pain free lifestyle. It will include a discussion on: • Why you feel pain or have restricted movement, • How to deal with pain, • And ultimately how to alleviate pain. As well as a practical session based on the KISS principle on methods of maintaining your strength and flexibility.

Karen Orlando

Karen Orlando, a graduate of Queen’s University and owner of ProCare Rehabilitation (a private physiotherapy clinic in downtown Toronto) has been a practicing Clinician for over 29 years. Since 1984, she has been a vital member of the Canadian Medical Team for 6 Summer Olympics, as well as being Chief Therapist for the Winter Paralympics in Lillehammer and Nagano. For the past fourteen years, the Canadian Rowing Team has chosen her as their Principal Physiotherapist Consultant. She was also part of the Canadian Olympic Team in Beijing, 2008. Karen has also worked with the Toronto Raptors basketball team, the National Sports Centre of Toronto, the National Ballet, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Famous Stage Productions. Her consulting business has taken her into industry, where she assesses workplace injuries and implements solutions. In addition, Karen has been a guest lecturer with the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as many universities, health care organizations and insurance companies. She has been teaching various courses including Bands, Balls and Balance and Functional Return from Brachial Plexus Injuries in Canada and the United States. Also, she has just completed an exercise module called Muscle Retraining through Physio Tools which is being distributed internationally.
